So my question is, can I download movies for free on my laptop? And would that be legal too? My girlfriends and I wanted to watch a movie (not available on Youtube). In any case, I did not want to buy the movie because it costs almost 20 euro on DVD. By the way: The film is from 2010, not very new and (unfortunately) a little unknown. And we would not have an internet if we were watching it, so it would have to go offline, legally, for free and on the laptop.
Nothing is free. Buy the movies. Have you never seen the ads from the DVDs from the 2000s? The pirate copy advertising was always really great. If you had seen her, you would know that something is punishable.
If the source is legal and the protective measures are not bypassed, you may download the films legally. Otherwise it is illegal.
Amazon Prime Video or Netflix offer it e.g. Also, that you can download movies from their offer and watch offline. For the two services you have to pay to watch movies.
I also did not want to pirate them, that's why legal was also written in bold in my text. But thanks anyway
OK thanks
No matter how you get it. Download for free from the Internet (YouTube included) counts as pirated already.
Youtube too? O
Maybe there's the movie in the library near you on DVD for free to lend.
Netflix does not let you download movies on your laptop, it only works on your phone
If you download it from YouTube. Watching on YouTube is no problem.
