Hi

I have the choice between

1) 512GB PCIe M.2 SSD (Optional dual drive)

2)

Format: M.2
Type: SSD
amount: 1
Capacity (SSD): 512 GB
Special feature: PCIe-NVMe SSD (OPAL 2.0)

both should run on a Thinkpad E490.

Is there a difference?

Yes, the m2 ssd has higher transmission rates. As a normal consumer, a M2 ssd but not necessary, the so-called SSD effect, you have synonymous with a normal ssd. The ones mentioned by you differ only in the interface. But be careful if your MB has a M2 Solot or another Pcie slot

I would rather take a 1TB Crucial SSD
