I just accidentally dropped the laptop accidentally. He runs on Linux. Since then he does not boot anymore and shows me a lot of errors.

Is he still alive?

Yours sincerely

Either the hard drive has got a scarf, or depending on the structure and nature of the compartment, the HDD has solved and there are problems with the connection.

So the first step would be to see if the FST disk is properly seated and the connector undamaged - if access is easily possible.

I assume that you have only one hard drive in the laptop.
If then such issues appear on the monitor, then it can be read from the hard drive.
In the simplest case, only data is destroyed because the write head has slipped to another location by the impact.
In the worst case, the surface has been destroyed and the plate unusable.

I see several possibilities.

with a live system (this does not require a hard disk) to test the hard disk and possibly. Repair
Remove plate and test / repair in another PC (with Linux)
Reinstall Linux from a DVD or USB stick
buy new hard drive

Testing: fsck -t auto / dev / sdXY
YX is the device file, which could be sdb1,
which can be found with cat / proc / partitions or fdisk -l (small L)

If you had / home on a 2nd partition, the data could all be preserved (do not format / home on a reinstall!)

The error messages indicate a defective hard disk sda. If they appear after a fall, you do not need to waste time on the error diagnosis and can replace the plate immediately. The ust definitely down.

You can at most try to save the personal data.
