Can you get isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol) as soon as possible and spray it into the cracks on the display. For safety you should disassemble the notebook after instructions (Youtube / iFixit) and then spray.
The problem is that - even if everything would work - the moisture on the tracks causes corrosion, which can lead to total failures.
