I have just looked again and now music CD's are no longer provided with a copy protection. But nevertheless the regulation of 2008 remains final.

I've seen that's exactly what I've written, namely that copying music for private use is allowed. I can only say from my own experience that I have for years with Windows Media Player itself music by world stars such as. By MJ, Robbie W. Etc. Copied from CD to my computer and had never had problems with the copy protection. If so, Microsoft's WMP would not have been offering the feature for years.
Then you were lucky. Here and there I already had some CD's that were not legal to copy. (But let's face it, who knows how to help himself does not need a copy protection cracker.)
I have copied all my CDs to my computer because I prefer to archive them as MP3 so that the CDs do not wear out. But never had problems with the copy protection. For DVDs always.
