With Chrome OS on programs on Windows computer?

I would like to start studying in the winter semester and am now spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing a laptop. The budget is tight, so laptops with Chrome OS come in very handy for me in terms of price and runtime.
However, I do not know whether there's a lot of software in my degree course (energy technology) that is only designed for Windows.
Now TeamViewer has become faster and latency lower, but I do not know if that is enough to access software at home on the home computer using TeamViewer and to use it actively.
Has there been anyone experience?

I can simply recommend a Thinkpad. They are quite good
