I'm working on a credits with After Effects right now and have the problem that my laptop gets slower the longer I work. Actually, yes, logically, AE is just rießen program, the credits have a lot of effects and my laptop is now already 5 years old (but was always quite fast in everything and came synonymous with large Photoshop or cs6 files or with PC game with very high graphics requirements always well clear). Now that has become so extreme that it really hampers me in the workflow and even before I open AE and after I close it is extremely slow and takes forever for everything and that is incredibly annoying.
Has any idea how I can fix that (apart from buying a new laptop or using less effects in the credits)? Can I adjust something on AE or on my laptop that it runs smoother?
Do you have a MacBook? Actually After Effects, etc. Are designed for MacBooks. It is normal that after 5 years the computer starts to lose its performance, you can have it repaired so that it works normally again, but it probably costs up to 100 euro. Unfortunately, these apps slow down the computer, it can't change that, So a miracle that after 5 years still works well.
Ne is a Lenovo. I just wondered because that was the way it was from day to day 🤔 So all day worked on it yesterday and today it's cracking…
Adobe programs run on Windows just as quickly as on Macs, especially on Windows faster because CUDA support works. That Adobe Prog. Optimized for MacOS is a mistake.
What do you have for a hard disk. I can't help with a ssd, but if you have a hdd, you should clean it up with CCleaner, which helps a lot
My sister is training as a media designer and there will be a MacBook to use all the empholes, there they are only available because they simply have a better processor.
Okay, Lenovo actually has a very good processor. Maybe he just needs a break, is already a bit older. Especially when he was on all day, it does not surprise me that he starts to hang.
After Effects is simply a huge program in itself. Could also be due to bugs, but a notebook, which is 5 years old, has certainly already accumulated some problems. Would check the following things:
RAM usage
CPU utilization
Graphics card usage (I hope you do not have an internal graphics chip!)
CPU temperature!
By itself, there are performance settings in Adobe, but if it just keeps getting worse, it sounds spontaneously to dust or just old age. ^^ '
AE needs a lot of resources, if you do not have at least 16GB (better 32GB of course) RAM and a fast SSD with at least 100GB of free memory in your laptop, then it's clear that it's going to get very slow
Maybe you could be helped here.https://helpx.adobe.com/de/after-effects/using/memory-storage1.html
And I did a 5-year apprenticeship as a photographer at a HTL. There, 90% also use Macbooks because the teachers recommend it. But they are not all IT specialists, but people who listen to the marketing and the errors.
I, on the other hand, bought an MSI laptop in half, and my Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere and After Effects performance was a lot better. The render times were a few minutes faster, I had no rainbow seeds and filters in PS were applied instant, instead of only after 5-10s calculation. And all this, because in the 2500 euro Mac an Intel U CPU with APU and only 8GB of RAM were installed. At my the i7 HQ, 16Gb RAM and ne GTX 1060 with Cuda has accelerated all that, and that for 1100 euro.
So under drives is the hard drive with the name reported: st1000lm024 hn-m101mbb
No idea if that brings you something eigentlich but actually I've recently runtergrschmissen everything from the computer so he runs against rounder
