Windows reset?

After my laptop is in an eternal diagnostic-repair loop and I've already tried all the solutions, I have come to the decision to reset my laptop, now Windows doesn't even want me to do that anymore. Would it be wise to boot Windows from an external hard drive, and could data be lost on this external hard drive? Do you have any other suggestions what I can do? (I can't get into the BIOS, and I can't start in Safe Mode either.

wi

I would remove the bios battery for 1-2 minutes. Called itself Bios Reset.

Ba

Unfortunately, I have a laptop, so there will be no expansion.

Ca

I would completely reinstall Windows (via USB stick). That is much cleaner.

Ba

Is it very easy to reinstall? And will this delete my files?

wi

You can also remove the Bios battery on a laptop if you can get hold of it.

Ba

Technical understanding is not enough for that, because I would be afraid to scrap something. Could you have other ideas without losing all of my data?

wi

Without data loss, this would only be possible with a Windows recovery CD. Do you have them lying around somewhere?

Ba

My laptop had Windows preinstalled back then and has no CD drive.

Ca

Yes and yes.

You can also watch a short tutorial on reinstalling Windows on YouTube.

Ba

Do I have to buy a new Windows now? Or how can I understand that?

Ba

And do you think that booting from the USB stick will solve my problem at all, since I can't even reset windows?

Gr

That's fine. However, you need a new, different FP. About the same size and a hard drive enclosure for the "old" disk.

Old FP out, new in. Install WINDOWS on this new one. Start Windows

Connect the old FP to the hard disk case and to the computer via USB. Copy data back to the new disk.

Of course, your apps would also have to be reinstalled.

Ba

In the meantime I have completely discarded the idea. Unfortunately, I can't reset Windows at all, and want to ask whether it will do anything at all if I try to boot Windows from a USB stick, or is that also pointless?

Ca

You can still enter the BIOS. As a rule, the key should be adopted automatically

Gr

Yes, it makes sense that Windows is installed on the FP. But then your data is gone.

Gu

Hard reset (hold down the power button until it switches off completely),

Press F8 or F9 while booting. As a rule, a boot menu starts with you
have different options. But first create a USB stick with Windows 10 with another computer. (Media Creation Tool). When booting, select the USB stick and first run through all repair options.
If these do not work, reboot from the stick and reinstall Win10. In the same partition where the old one was. You will then find a "Windows.old" folder under C: in which you will find your saved documents. But only those that were saved under "User / …". So no scores or the like.

Ba

So I can't get into the BIOS, my laptop always did well, until I got into the BIOS once when starting up and didn't change anything at all. I'm really starting to despair.
