I wanted to record something from an external audio device via Y-jack-Cinch cable with my laptop in Audacity.
I noticed that there's no line-in option in the control panel. Already updated the driver, but to no avail.
I would be very happy if someone can help me.
Greetings, Johanna
Laptops rarely have line-in. You won't have a connection for a LineIn either, just mic and LineOut / headphones… You would need a separate audio interface with a corresponding input… The cheapest option would be a cheap USB sound card, but the quality would be better with a real audio interface.
It may be that this is saved away with modern laptops…
It is possible that the microphone is also line-in at the same time
Thank you for your answer, can you recommend an audio interface?
Nope. Unfortunately not personally. Usually Behringer or Focusrite Scarlett is recommended for beginners. At Berhinger the ghosts argue sometimes… I haven't read any myself and only read about it…
