Dear community,

we got a notebook with Windows 10 and would now like to use the notebook or laptop.

Can we erase the hard drive? If so, how and import a new operating system?

Or can you bypass the password?

Ri

Reset all. However, you no longer have an operating system. Would you have to buy dsnn new for about 170 euro
Or ask about the pw who gave it.

Zo

Just ask the one who "gave" you the notebook…

Gu

Which operating system costs 170 euro please? Windows server? OEM keys are available for single-digit amounts.

Pl

Can't you ask for the password where you got the notebook for free?

Te

The old user can deactivate the password. However, with Win10 you absolutely need a user with a Microsoft account.

Otherwise format and reinstall.

Gi

This is / was made in the thousands. Why shouldn't that work?

As long as you have a medium (CD…) to install an operating system, this should also work.

Or can you bypass the password?

You can set up a password yourself.

via the BIOS or

about the operating system.

It is nothing new that an operating system does not cost little money. These cheap 20 euro keys are mostly fraudulent.

As

Well, yes and no. They are of dubious origin, but they often work and you get money back if you have direct problems. But for 20 euro you should at least get the right keys from the standard version. I know that for 40 euro windows 10 pro keys get working and are real. Buying a 5 euro key twice is still cheaper: /

Gu

These keys are not necessarily fraudulent, they also come from companies that buy keys in large quantities and therefore pay little. There are also keys that come from old PCs that still had a sticker on them. Ultimately, no one has experienced any consequences and the keys work without any problems. Back then I traded Windows keys myself and none of my customers ever had a problem with these keys.

ki

Mandatory a user with a Microsoft account.

Would be new to me. Tricks are still possible. The device must not be connected to the Internet during setup

The old user can deactivate the password.

It will probably no longer be tangible.

However, with Win10 you absolutely need a user with a Microsoft account.

No. These are usually volume licenses, and selling them individually is completely legal (at least in the EU).

Te

Ok did not know that there's now also an activation-free offline version.

Rh

They don't exist, but you don't need a Microsoft account. And neither for installation. You can ignore the request simply by selecting the appropriate option.
