Can the police access my cell phone / laptop without a PIN?

I'm currently on trial for computer fraud and my cell phone and laptop have been confiscated. I didn't give the PIN and today my lawyer is writing an application that I get my things back. But can they still get there somehow?

So you mean that authorities need a PIN to access common systems? Probably not.

As long as you haven't encrypted the hard drives in a complex process, everything can be accessed without any problems.

In a criminal case they have all their options and as long as you have not encrypted your hard drive, etc., they can get to everything they need without any problems. They don't need a pin for that, as you think.

And if you of course refused to give them the pin, they are of course even more interested to take a look.

I phone x, 4-digit PIN and I have secured the laptop with a password

Gone stupid. The police laugh at that. Maybe not the standard cop, but the colleague in IT forensics.

Naturally.

There are programs for that.

For info. You don't open the operating system.

You just open the memory with the data.

Can you read everything out nicely.

You don't need access to the system.

Much fun yet.
