No, that's not how it works. The plug polarity and the voltage must already match. If the power supply is more than 3 amps, that's fine.

Too little voltage & some laptop power supplies send an adapter ID because of the available power of the power supply… Buy a used original power supply (& avoid cheap garbage from China)
