My laptop is simply no sound more of itself so everything is just mute. Even over headphones.

Probably the driver was not automatically installed because the sound card was not recognized. That happens from time to time. You should somehow find out which sound card is installed or test the drivers of the most popular manufacturers. Very often that is "Realtek".

Alternatively, of course, the sound card or the sound chip may be broken.

Not even after an update was it all gone. I really went into attitude then. I searched and then saw that my speakers were without sound. So deactivated. Have activated this then and sound was back. More I can't say! LG Sky… 💥💥💥
