I have connected a device to my PC (Windows 10). This should normally be recognized as a game controller. It is installed on my laptop (Windows 7) immediately and recognized as a game controller, but not on my PC. It's just not there. Do I have to consider something or how can I solve a problem? Unfortunately, the device does not work on the PC because of this. It's Logitech G920 Driving Force.
Driver installed?
It has already happened that various hardware works under windows 7, but not under Windows 10. One of the main problems is the drivers. Many manufacturers do not get this on Windows 10 certification because it costs money.
To save money, the drivers are not certified for Windows 10.
I sometimes switched to a Linux distribution because I sometimes have a lot of hardware that was running under the Windows at that time but did not work under the current (Windows 10).
Under Linux you get most of the reactivations that didn't work under Windows 10. I have an old PCI parallel port card in my older Pc connector with a parallel port printer attached to it. There's no driver for Windows 10 for this model. It works absolutely perfectly under Linux Mint Mate 64 Bit Version 19.3 with Kernel 5.6.6 (Mainline). This is just one example from many.
Windows 10 also has major problems with USB devices. There are many whose drivers get involved and therefore cause problems.
One possibility would be to save your data, delete Windows completely, reinstall and after updating to the current state try to connect this USB device first so that it works.
If it is still not recognized, look for a driver from the manufacturer. If there's no driver at the manufacturer for Windows 10 then you have to accept that it has not been released for Windoof 10 by the manufacturer.
Yes. As far as my PC is telling the truth, the latest drivers are installed.
Thank you for your answer. It puzzles me that it works for many big Youtubers and streamers but doesn't work for me on the PC. Logitech unfortunately no longer offers drivers on request. Because of their modest software that only works half-heartedly. Hmm yes I'm at a loss but wonder why that works for others and not for me.
