I would like to uninstall McAfee. Unfortunately I forgot my password and can no longer access the email. Is there a way to either find out the password because I'm still logged in or e.g. Copy a file out and copy it in again when I want to use it again? Anything would be very helpful. Since my parents have McAfee on everything and mine without it it would be so dangerous, most of them don't even recognize it and slow down my laptop EXTREMELY.
You could remove it from autostart that would be a way of stopping it from slowing down as much.
Alternatively, you could delete every McAfee file with the nt authority system, which is extremely annoying and can cause problems (may not have to) but this method would also exist.
PS tell your parents another antivirus program can actually make your security worse, not everything that an antivirus program is automatically helpful
Mcafee can't be removed from the Autostadt or it is not listed
What do you mean by your alternative idea, I don't understand
What autostart are you watching task manager?
You can get the highest rights from your system and simply delete McAfee with them
And how should I explain to my parents that it's just gone?
You look at the autostart and that in the task manager or elsewhere
They have when they install McAfee because they think it is certainly not the expert knowledge anyway. You can only install it for your account and not for all users
I've already seen several tests where Mcafee performed poorly or failed the test at all.
You can read through many examples.
No offense but I think Windows Defender without a firewall is better than McAfee Premium.
McAfee is not the best antivirus, but by comparison, this antivirus slows down the PC the least. The recognition rate is sufficiently high with an existing internet connection. Depending on the tester, the overall rating is quite different.
You can only deactivate the virus protection with the consent of your parents in order to determine whether your laptop really works better.
As an administrator, you can reset your user password or assign a new one. To do this, simply execute the command net uster your user name new password in the console.
It is executed in the autostart depends on where you look get the program Autoruns that comes in autostarts from the regestry over the task manager to hidden folders
Got over the task manager
The task manager doesn't list everything you know?
So if I do that via autoruns, McAfee is not allowed to start itself and I have to open Manuel when I need it? If so, perfect
This is what Autoruns looks like, it is not mine, but it really lists every program
Should go if it does not get out of the autostart I would use advanced start options and before Windows starts Autoruns open so McAfee has not yet started and can't prevent you from doing so
There are enough videos on YouTube how you get the most rights on Windows, so more rights than the admin
Great, I'll give it a try, thank you
Anytime, keep me posted
Ok, I've tried it now, despite all the files connected to McAfee were switched off, it still starts after about 5 minutes.
And removing with elevated rights?
Well, just uninstalled it now.
Is also possible
