I want to buy a new laptop, but only has USB 3.1 ports. Is there then a USB 2.0 stick or is it not recognized, etc?
USB ports are backwards compatible. Should not be a problem.
Yes, USB is backwards compatible.
Many Thanks.
At least I'm pretty sure. I do not use a lot of USB 2.0 peripherals, but my old webcam, which still runs on 2.0, also works in a newer port. And my 3.1 USB stick (which I have not used for years) also worked in 2.0 ports. I just do not give a definitive answer, because… That's technology, it does not always work the way it should.
