PC suddenly much worse than before + strong noise?

I assembled a PC about 2 years ago. The PC actually always ran as it should and could run all games without any problems. I can no longer open a game without my PC crashing or having to close everything. Even watching videos in Explorer is often a challenge.

Here is the list of parts installed in the PC:

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 6x 3.20 GHz SO.AM4 BOX

MSI B350M PRO-VDH AMD B350 So.AM4 Dual Channel DDR4 mATX Retail

PowerColor Radeon RX 580 Red Dragon V2 Aktiv PCle 3.0 x16 (Retail)

16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport LT DDR4-2400 DIMM CL16

400 watts be quiet! Pure Power 10 Non-Modular 80+ Silver

120Gb Kingston A400 2.5 "SATA 6GB / s TLC NAND (SA400S37 / 120G)

1000GB Toshiba DT01ACA series DT01ACA100 32MB 3.5 "SATA 6Gb / s

In addition, the PC has been producing a hum in my speakers (KRK RP8 G3) for a long time, which I tried to eliminate by buying an external sound card (Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2nd Gen). This even worked for a while, but then the background noise became significantly worse, so that I prefer to forego my loudspeakers altogether, since the noise is quasi permanently audible. At first, the load on the graphics card clearly led to the background noise becoming more violent.

Tried a lot, but nothing helped. When I connected the speakers and audio interface to a laptop, the sound was crystal clear, so I'm assuming the fault is with the PC. I'm really desperate because I stopped producing music because of that and could use your help very well.

May sound like a defective power supply. Capacitors defective. Hum comes through. Incorrect voltages System poops, performance is demanded, everything collapses and pc poops.

Try a different power supply as a test. 400 watts also seems tight. Take 500 times. Then you have reserves

lo

How does it crash? Are there any error messages?

Try an older audio driver.

That can be a lot.
The power supply could be defective.

The hum can come from not having grounded your speakers. With many speakers, you don't have to either. But there are sound systems that need to be grounded again.

How much is your 120 GB ssd card?

That doesn't sound good at all, and there appear to be significant software errors or PC viruses. I recommend installing Windows 10 https://www.elves-castle.de/windows-neu-installieren.html. After that, see what problems may persist and which have resolved.

Make sure to install the drivers from the mainboard (chipset + SATA) after the new installation, you can download them from MSI. I also recommend a bios update. Download only things from reputable sources and do not install a file from your hard drive that may contain a virus.

PS: If you use the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, you should of course only use the sound interface and no longer the onboard sound. So please not a single 3.5MM plug in the PC, but all devices (boxes, headphones, inputs) directly into the Focusrite audio interface. Under Windows you can then switch the output / input to Focusrite.

Many thanks for the quick and helpful answer! I will try out your suggestions. I know exactly how to connect the sound elements because I have already dealt with them. The speakers are connected via XLR to the interface, which is connected to the PC via USB. My headphones are also connected to the interface with a large jack. I even deactivated the onboard sound card in the BIOS.

Error messages also occur from time to time, but I usually decide after a certain time to simply end the programs instead of waiting 2 hours for something to happen. Older audio drivers unfortunately don't solve the problem, thanks anyway.

Thank you very much!

Can it really be due to the grounding when there's no noise as soon as they are connected to another system?

How exact is the question "How much is your 120 Gb ssd card?" meant?

se

Ouh sorry.
how much space is free on your 120gb SSD?

lo

Okay, otherwise I would do what DomDelux said. It may very well be the power supply.

All right, true, whoever an interface like the Focusrite is usually also an expert! 😊

I hope and am also confident that most problems should be resolved after the new installation.
