How do I find out which driver is the right one for my laptop?

Small problem: a colleague has problems with his laptop. The audio output is not recognized and there's no longer any sound. Under "Device Manager" in the "Other Devices" category I find the "Intel High Definition Audio" with a yellow exclamation mark, which is probably where the problem is. However, I can't install a new driver directly over it and have to look for the right one on the Internet. When I search for "Intel High Definition Audio Driver" in the download area of Intel.com, it feels like 100 things are suggested to me. But which one should I install? Some say "Intel Nuc8 Business PC", others "Intel Nuc11 Gamer PC", and yet another "Intel Nuc 10 Mini PC"… But I'm looking for the driver for the laptop, how do I find it out? In the Device Manager there's nothing else except "High Definition Audio"

Download the chipset drivers for the laptop.
Which laptop exactly is it?
(Should actually be on the bottom of the device)

Hy

The laptop's serial number and device name are usually written on the bottom of the laptop. Otherwise it actually says oh at PC Info if you haven't changed it

Please be very careful with the PC hardware driver. I've already installed some and the option with "" "" Overclocking "" "and other functions shortened the lifespan of my devices from 10 years to 3 months.

then the guarantee also expires. In fact, you always get a driver DVD. CD. Or USB stick when you buy a new device. And that's the only thing you should use. (Because of quarantine)

When this Bundled Software updates. Or updates you Officielle allow then you are allowed to. But please do not let yourself be misled by half-knowledge which drivers will break your device!

The model is called E3216. I don't know if you mean that because otherwise I can't find anything else that should describe the device. I also tried to install the HD graphics driver, but the download is somehow canceled in the middle for some reason.

You can get the correct drivers from the manufacturer's website for your laptop.

And what brand is the laptop? Is that a Medion laptop?
If so, the following driver package should be sufficient: http://www.medion.com/de/service/_lightbox/treiber_details.php?did=17320

Fu

I'm sure it was changed, because PC Info says something with DESKTOP 4REIMO or something under "device names". Under the laptop, however, the number "E3216" is under the designation "Module". I don't know if you can do anything with it.

Hy

Do you have the MEDION® AKOYA® E3216?

This is a pretty old device that has suffered a maximum in its life. I could easily list 50 other problems this laptop has. I also think that it should be more of a laptop where you save your data and not use it regularly, because this laptop is so lame, it feels like it takes me 2 minutes to start Google and then YouTube. You can probably no longer speak of a guarantee, as old as I perceive this device. Can also be used, because he doesn't have CD's for drivers. The device does not have a drive either. But thanks for the warning. I also think that my buddy doesn't care much about the laptop, but he would still be happy if he had his sound again.

Devices are also no longer updated at some point. So there's no new software. Firmware more for it! When it's older, nothing new will come for it. But older drivers can easily be installed afterwards using the serial number on the manufacturer's homepage.

You need a brand. Names. Serial number. You can find this easily with Google.

Fu

That could be that, yes! I once compared the specs and it has exactly the same processor.

Fu

And it is from Medion too!

Fu

Thank you!

Fu

Who is actually asking the questions here?

Fu

The laptop is from Medion, yes! Thank you for the link, I'll try it out in a moment.

I reinstalled the chipset, but unfortunately nothing has changed. "Intel High Definition Audio" is still marked with a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager. I think I should install a new driver for this through Intel.com, but I don't know which one. Can I also install any or do I have to find exactly what is intended for the device?

Em

No, just some drivers don't work.
After you have carried out the setup of the download, the files contained will be extracted (by default on C: \ MEDION).
Now go to the said audio device in the device manager. You can then search for drivers there (on this PC) Then select the above-mentioned folder and it should install the driver.

If that doesn't really work, you can use programs like AIDA64 to find out the exact name of the device and search for the drivers accordingly.

Alternatively, in the MEDION folder you will also find the "Codec" subfolder. The way I see it, it includes the "Realtek ALC269" audio driver.
