LapTop comes on but can't be used?

I have an old laptop that I was still using. But about a year or half a year ago I couldn't use it anymore, and I haven't used it since.
Now turned it on again and it's still the same. Black screen with my mouse (can move the mouse).
What should I do?

An update may have been installed incorrectly.

If nothing happens, Windows must be reinstalled.

Maybe this helps

How do I do that? I'm not familiar with computers and I can only move the mouse, otherwise nothing happens.

pa

Which Windows was on it? Windows 10?

Ab

Yes.

OK. Do you have a USB stick with at least 8 GB?

Ab

No, I doubt it

This is difficult. But I have another tip without reinstalling:

While you have the black screen and you can move your mouse, press the following keys on the keyboard at the same time:

CTRL + ALT + DEL

If you have a picture, click Task Manager. Hopefully a window will open now. Click on "More Details" in the lower left corner of this window.

Then at the top left on, File "and on, Run new task".

Then type explorer.exe into the line.

Check the box for "Create this task with administrator rights".

And then click, OK. If you're lucky, everything will be back to normal.

Thank you 😌 I've now somehow managed to get "System is being updated" below, if that doesn't work, I'll try yours

So it is of course helpful to know whether the original Windows DVD is still there or has been lost? Windows does offer some repair options from DVD.
