My gaming laptop (Asus ROG GL753vd, intel core i7 7th gen., Nvida geforce Gtx 1050, 16 RAM) works quite well with windows 10. But at games I can't get a constant 60 FPS anymore. Take Fortnite, for example, as I remember myself, I used to be able to play at a good 80 to 100 fps with weak settings and full 3D resolution. Since the latter, my pc has selected the integrated graphics (Intel hd 630), which surprised me because the Geforce is actually better. When I noticed that the game was just jerky, I was able to see in the task manager that the graphics card (Nvidia) was 100% missing, but the load distribution was constant (2 of 4Gb dedicated GPU memory) The 'line' came not over 2 GB. Has a limit been set somehow or is it normal, can you change it or what could be the cause?
Ps: Current drivers, nothing has been changed on the laptop
Friends said that my anti-virus program consumed too much performance in the background (Avast antivirus).
If you don't know what I mean, I could add a picture…
First, yes, Avast is a problem. Put it down, Avast is useless anyway. From 1803 the Defender can do more.
Second, the 1050 is not a high-end card. Screw the graphics settings.
Yes put Avast away because it is unnecessary there are Defenders that can do more than 1802.
And then: 1050 is not much for the graphics… Look in the settings whether it is no longer possible
Since the latter, my pc has selected the integrated graphics (Intel hd 630), which surprised me because the Geforce is actually better.
Did you change that again so that the Nvidia is used again? The NVidia should then have no load… What do the temperatures say? Are all fans OK and cooling fins dust-free? If something gets too warm, the system clocks down… Can also be the CPU, which then throttles… Possibilities over possibilities…
Avast could of course slow it down a bit, but I used to have it and never had any problems with the performance as a result… Vlt with weak CPUs, but yours should be able to handle it…
I switched it back to the Nvidia but the graphics were almost worse than with the integrated graphics. Everywhere on the Internet is the geforce that can do better. I also have a problem here. I used to use the ROG center to check or change cooling etc. I couldn't open it anymore, so I wanted to uninstall it and install it again, but still it can't be opened.
What else can you adjust? So things like antialiasing system controls at Nvidia?
What else can you adjust?
Could be a general driver problem or a software / Windows update shot something…
But are only guesswork… Either uninstall and reinstall the drivers, maybe other software that works in between…
If in doubt, I would set up Win as the last step / reset the computer… Did YOU check the cooling to see if it was not clogged with dust? This happens after a while and, depending on the location, even relatively quickly…
Resetting the computer is difficult, since I live in a very small village, where we only have 100 GB of Wi-Fi per month, i.e. No wired internet. Software and games that I would have to download would be too big, right?
I have been using the laptop almost every day for over 1 1/2 years, I have not yet checked the cooling, how do you do that and do you also need special software?
No, not software, but a screwdriver and then you have to open it. You have the fans in the laptop, they blow the air through copper fins and cool them down… The fans also push dust into the cooling fins, which eventually clogs them… After 1 1/2 years there can be so much dust that the cooling is no longer sufficient… The systems then throttle everything down to protect against overheating.
A little skillful cleaning is required and not every laptop can be easily dismantled. Then clean with a brush. DO NOT blow in from the other side while the fans are still installed. Under no circumstances with compressed air! And vacuum cleaners should also be used with caution… Which I usually use… But I'm sure what I do… At the beginning I only used brushes. I had to disassemble my old laptop with about 30 screws and fiddly work before I could get the cooling. The ones with the service cover below are usually easy. There are only a few screws… Without a service cover, you may have to disconnect cables that can break quickly… Therefore, not easy for everyone…
Thank you first, I just bring the laptop to experts who do something like that!
