My ASUS laptop always loads the GPU Switch tool when it starts up, which I also can't remove.
What the hell is this for?
According to the name you can switch between the GPUs, but what do you need it for?
The graphics chipset is AMD Radeon (TM) RX Vega 10 Graphics or AMD Ryzen 7 3750H with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GDDR6 @ 6GB (192 bits)
Oha, AMD is making new attempts to optimize energy consumption in notebooks.
It shouldn't be wrong if things are as good as "Nvidia - Optimus" (or even better now).
I'm afraid, however, that you have not read and understood your offer quite correctly in the variety of combinations between iGPU and discrete solution.
Or has AMD suddenly shown enormous improvements in terms of "Nvidia - Optimus"?
(it's all about switchable graphics)
After searching forever, I found something about this on the internet, but I'm still not much smarter than before:
"Take advantage of the incredible advantages of the… GPU Switch. With just a few clicks,… Automatically switches between better gameplay and optimized battery life. While the G-SYNC mode synchronizes the GPU and the display and thus for smoother gameplay with less input delay and tearing-free graphics, Optimus mode selectively turns off the discrete GPU to save energy for everyday desktop applications and entertainment. "
That's "Nvidia Optimus"… I don't see any direct transition to AMD "Enduro"… And nothing really functional yet.
Or did AMD "secretly" continue sewing old stockings on notebooks?
Time is too short, but has AMD actually managed to bring a Vega 3 to 11 - iGPU switchable e.g. To a "Radeon -Performance-PCIe" in notebooks?
With the AMD "A-Series" there were still certain problems… (formerly "Enduro")
Hmm, I don't know what you mean. One GPU is from AMD, the other from NVIDIA. I can't read anything about Optimus and Enduro.
(no, AMD, "Hybrid-CF" certainly doesn't want anyone back) … THAT can't (yet) work
"Switchable Graphics" is only an "option" for notebook manufacturers
They don't have to offer that.
The internal graphics solution of your CPU needs significantly less power than your dedicated 2060. So it can make sense in battery mode to switch off the 2060 and only use the CPU's IGP.
I'm assuming the dedicated 2060 is the Discrete GPU while the IGP is the ROG XG Mobile right?
Yes, one is the 2060 and the other is the Vega 10.
Oke, thank you very much x)
