I have the problem of dropping a .HEIC file from my cell phone to my laptop and converting it to JPG (I changed the file extension to JPG and then hit enter and then Apple asked me if I would HEIC wants to stay or want to take JPG and I took JPG) and opened it with 'Preview'. After that I went to https://www.remove.bg to remove the background of the photo. But when I do, it only tells me invalid file type! Any idea?
Made into JPG
Did you really convert the file to JPG format or just change the file extension?
I changed the file extension to JPG and then hit enter and then Apple asked me whether I wanted to stay with HEIC or take JPG and I took JPG.
The Photoroom app also does that
Just because you change the file extension doesn't change the file format.
I'm not sure because the website also thought it was JPG.
As Krabat693 wrote: changing the file extension does not change the file type. It remains a HEIC file.
You actually have to convert the file to JPG format. If you don't have an appropriate program that can edit HEIC files, try it with
https://convertio.co/de/heic-jpg/
The website sees the file extension, thinks "OK is a JPEG" accepts the file and determines. "Oh it's not a JPEG after all" and returns the invalid file type error.
HEIC is a container format which you first have to convert to JPEG. To do this, you can open the file in an editing program that can immediately use HEIC files and then click on "save as" to save it in JPEG format.
Converted it, will try again thanks!
Everything went really well, thanks for the help!
