I have a laptop and I like to play computer games, but I do not have the best hardware and I can't play all games and some only on the worst graphic settings. Can I somehow improve my laptop or does it only work with the PC?
Here is my hardware:
Processor: Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.50GHz
Memory: 4.00 GB (of which 3.88 GB can be used)
Operating system: Windows 10-64 bit
Only goes to the PC, so you should always buy a PC for gambling.
You can often swap the processor if it is not soldered, but your platform is already very old and does not even have a dedicated graphics card. Upgrading to 8GB RAM at the most would bring something.
So best to save on a PC.
Memory can be expanded on almost all devices. There are a few exceptions, but for most models it is usually unproblematic to double that amount.
The hard drive can also be removed on almost all models and swapped for a larger model or SSD. Rarely it is possible to add a second disk permanently.
Via extension shafts, more individual retrofits could be made, especially for older models. Additional USB slots, special connections, a sound card o.a. Goods there by means of plug connection as far as possible.
Processor and graphics unit are the areas that can't be changed in 99% of all cases. These are soldered, energy balance and heat dissipation adapted to the given performance. There's no turning and shaking. These are the relevant factors when it comes to improving gaming performance. And the answer here is simple: buy a better notebook. This is unfortunately the only way. Individual upgrade of the components is only possible with a desktop PC.
That will probably not be useful. Even if the RAM is upgradeable & your laptop offers the possibilities to use an eGPU, then you still have the processor on the cheek (2 Kerner, if I'm not mistaken).
Especially with ner eGPU is so expensive that a new one is probably cheaper.
