Old hard drive with Windows 10 in new Pc take over?

My laptop broke down and now I want to build a PC myself.

Now the question: In my laptop was a SSD with Windows 10 in it, I can install it in the New PC and it runs as before or I need to reinstall Windows. A buddy meant that works but I've read on the internet that it does not work?
