If you no longer have a television, can you connect a VHS video recorder to a (PC) screen and watch the films or on a laptop?
If so, which connections do you need? Currently I have a video recorder with connections as shown in the picture. I'm expecting another used video recorder shortly.

Yes, yellow is video and red is audio on the left and white is audio on the right, mostly you plug in the red one and leave the white one free or connect the red and the white one, as cyclemat suggested.

Unfortunately the recorder only has mono sound.
you can either use a Y cable, then you will hear the sound equally on both sides, or you can be content with only hearing the sound on the left or right speaker. Depending on whether you plug the white or red plug into the white socket.
The USB connection on the adapter mentioned would be something for the laptop. That would be enough for me. Then I don't need to connect the monitor.
