Can I connect a USB 3.1 device to a USB 3 port?

I recently found a device that, according to the manufacturer, requires USB 3.1, but my laptop has a maximum of USB 3.0.

Could you still use the device or is it advised?

My device also has usb c. Are there any adapters for this?

That's fine

USB is backward compatible. 3.1 is throttled to 3.0 on a 3.0 interface and this also applies to 2.0

All USB devices are backwards compatible, for example. You can connect a USB 3.0 stick to USB 2.0. There are also adapters from normal USB to type C (and other variants.) Just search on Amazon for e.g. USB to C adapter and then you look at the pictures, which fits. But you should be able to operate the device normally with the USB 3.0 port.
