Windows 7: Change or keep despite support display?

I'm not so sure what I should do now: buy a new laptop with Win 10 that is "spied" (retrofit is not worth the part is 10 years old) or just stay with win7 until the box gives up its ghost. Have to say that I do not make online banking or dergelichen, otherwise I order something once or twice on the Internet. However, even WITHOUT the account details. Otherwise just surf a little bit (you tube, mediatheken etc)

What do you advise me? And why?

Maybe that helps you: I switched from Professional to WIN 7 only after 10 years. And I'll do the hell now to switch to WIN 10, even if there are no updates for 7 more.

For the viruses I've been Avira for 15 years, doing online banking, never had any problems.

I take care of what I open.

The old laptop with Windows 7 can be synonymous with the free operating system Cloudready in a brisk Chromebook. Cloudready is a customized Linux-based Chrome OS that you can install on any device. Download here: https://www.neverware.com/freedownload You need the USB-Maker and a blank formatted stick with at least 8GB.

Cloudready runs extremely fast. The browser and the Chrome apps start without delay. All updates are fully automatic in the background.

In the browser settings you can also install Flash, Codecs and Widevine in the section Plugins. Then you can also use DRM protected content such. Netflix, maxdome, amazon video, sky go etc…

Buy new hardware with WIN 10. Old equipment "freeze" not go online just use offline, then you do not need updates anymore.
(Already have older devices (Pc's, laptops with NT, XP, Win7 "frozen") which are still very useful for me offline today). I currently use Fuers Internet a PC Tower with Win10 and my smartphone.

In the end, you have to decide that for yourself.

But if you want to stay viral / malware free, you should from January 2020 any computer that does not min. Windows 8 has on board, disconnect from the Internet.

Offline, it is no problem to continue using these boxes.

I still have a very old notebook (P4 (3.0GHz), 2GB-Ram, 250GB HD).

Then runs a 32bit Win7 and parallel to a frugal 32bit Linux.

Or, another Linux system will be reinstalled. Because Lubuntu is no longer running since version 16 together.

I will try it soon with the MX-Linux, which is based on Debian and antiX and contains the Xfce desktop.

The Linux is then fully Internet capable and the Win7 remains completely offline.

It is intended only as an emergency system.

As if a Chrome OS were not data slingers…

However, I do not know it further.

But if I just look at the Chrome browser, which is permanently ticking all sorts of things home… Then I'm afraid of the Chrome OS.

And Android is not better either. Probably worse (in terms of privacy).

Cloudready does not use Google Chrome, but Chromium, which is the open source version. You can try this without installing in live mode.

Chromium is not Chrome. I realize that.

(I work here with the browser Vivaldi, which also uses Chromium.)

I'm not concerned with the browser used, but with the operating system itself.

Is not a Google account still needed for this OS, or is it not also interlocked with the various Google services?

And the Chrome OS is therefore something different than the Chromium OS.

As I said, I have not dealt with it so far.

More precisely: Until just now…

You can also use Cloudready via guest access without a Google account.
