Arguments for a PC?

I need a PC or laptop or an iPad for homeschooling.

The iPad would actually be best because I could take it with me to school. However, I could also use my Chromebook for this.

I would like to have a PC because I recently bought Minecraft and it doesn't work well on my father's laptop.

What would be arguments that my parents would allow me to?

I could easily pay for it myself.

If you already have a chromebook, the parental arguments don't look good

Er

You already have a Chromebook, what do you need a PC or an iPad for? Obviously not for homeschooling…

Gu

So I got on because I have a hobby that I need the PC for

An

But a Chromebook doesn't have Windows, so I don't have the right Word and PowerPoint and all that

An

Yes, because the Chromebook doesn't have Windows and therefore I don't have any real Microsoft programs

oa

You have an argument

Er

Fortunately, there are alternative programs that you can take advantage of. You don't need a new electrical device for this.

You have Google Docs with which you can edit Word, Slides with which you can open and edit PowerPoint, and you can download the Linux version of Minecraft and play it in a virtual machine on your Chromebook.

An

Nop, I've tried everything, I can't download minecraft via Linux either. 🙄🤷🏼♂️

Don't let your parents pay you for everything, besides, it is simply unnecessary to get a pc just to play minecraft… A good iPad also costs around 1,000 euro. That you want from your parents just to advertise something in school… Just go to work for your money and don't always ask everyone to buy you something. Really abnormal of you…

An

As I said, I would pay myself for it, and we only need a 350 euro iPad for school, but I wouldn't play Minecraft on it.

That's why a PC.

De

Do you want a pc and a tablet? Forget it and 350 euro is very little for an iPad. You probably won't enjoy it for very long at the price. Just go to work and don't spoil your parents like that…

An

As I said, I could pay for it myself

De

Boy then just buy it yourself. You are only 13 😂 but you can buy anything (what is legally available). (In Germany there's the pocket money paragraph) but your parents have the right to return the things.

An

And that's why I need arguments with which I can convince my parents.

De

Just see it, there aren't any, because you already have a notebook.

I currently have an old laptop that has Windows on it (it says thinkpad, lenovo, X1 Carbon), a large screen that I connect to the laptop and an iPad from 2017. I recently took a programming course online, and, for example, some couldn't get in with a Chromebook and were able to install special things that worked fine on Mac and Windows with the others (including me). Incidentally, I have to briefly mention here that I would advise you to use a laptop or macbook, since here in the course some of them could not install programs with an ipad. If necessary, list your parents' reasons for a Macbook (just enter reasons for mac / macbook) on googel if you want something from apple. Of course you can also use an iPad, but many programs don't work on it. At the moment I'm still saving for a macBook air myself, but the laptop still does. If you don't want a macbook or it is too expensive, then you can also opt for a windows. To do this, you can first consider yourself why you want a laptop with Windows at all and then present the arguments to your parents.

Thanks!

Ma

Well, we do homeschooling via teams (microsoft) and without powerpoint and word we'd all look pretty stupid. So i can understand his opinion…

Ma

Nothing to thank for. I'm 12 years old myself (7th grade. I'll be 13 in summer) and know how annoying parents can be but also how to persuade them.
