I wonder if my external monitor (60hz) that I connect to my gaming laptop (60hz) achieve the same number of FPS as my laptop. On my laptop I reach over 100 FPS despite 60hz.

Fps is the average number of images that your GPU outputs.
Hertz describes the periodic interval at which your monitor displays a new image (if one is available).
Unless you synchronize these two components, they have nothing to do with each other.
So could I get a 144 Hz monitor?
