How do I convince my parents to have a PC?

Hi, I'm 12 (almost 13) and have a gaming laptop (XMG A507 VE from 2018). I don't know it's bad, but it's just older and that is also reflected in the graphics of newer games. I own the MCFS 2020 and my graphics card (1050 ti) just can't keep up, it's really difficult to get a graphics card into a laptop, let alone get it first.

I've talked to friends who know their way around, I got enough information and I'm more and more convinced of a PC. My parents-not-I tried a lot and grades are no problem for me (I'm best in class with a 1.2 average), also the significantly better graphics, computing power, etc…)

I've already looked for other alternatives, but an external graphics card housing + graphics card for the laptop is as expensive as a PC and is not worth it.

Does anyone know what to do?

Sell laptop PC buy.

Ho

My father also means that as a condition, but my mother has forbidden it, thank you anyway

Pro tip: upgrade

Ja

Well It's hard. I'm not 18 myself, but I don't think your parents want that because you already have a gaming laptop. And if you always annoy your parents then they will say no.

You have to consider that due to delivery bottlenecks caused by Corona and, also by Corona, an extremely high demand because many work in the home office or generally have more time at home, all graphics cards are currently being traded at absolutely horrific prices.

Today I received the message from Media Markt that my graphics card, which I sent in for repair, is irreparable and I now have to buy a new one. The problem now is simply that I will absolutely not buy such an overpriced card. (I would have to pay another 200 euro to get an equivalent one like the broken one…) And like many, I also rely on the PC, through schoolwork…

Therefore, better wait a little longer (maybe a few more months) until prices have stabilized again.

Ho

I thought I brought that across. If not, I'm sorry, but it's not easy with laptops and I mean it.

cu

Yes, of course, it's not easy, but it would be the simplest solution

Ho

Thank you, my parents don't really have a clue and I'm concerned with consent. So the purchase will be another topic, but thanks for the time.

School, games are cheaper, is quieter, better for the eyes because better graphics, is grown up and no longer kindergarten, dreams come true, cut videos, save pictures that you take with her (absolutely great)

Ho

Not really, the procurement is damned difficult and above all expensive, more expensive than an equivalent PC.

Ho

Thanks a few arguments could have serious chances

As a rule, laptops can't be upgraded except for RAM and mass storage (and with larger WLAN / BT modules) because everything is soldered.

So personally I always advise against a large stand PC, because you are with a laptop 1. Much more mobile 2. It can usually do the same thing and 3. It is often cheaper.

If you are almost 13 you could wish for one for your birthday or at 13 you could deliver the newspaper and save it for yourself (that's how I did it back then. And yes, in winter it is cold in the mornings) or you can wait a year and then you can 2 hours a day So legally correctly doing a non-physically strenuous job, like sorting the medication in a pharmacy (the biggest hateful work in a pharmacy they will definitely take you;)) You can also use a laptop as an argument that you can save your schoolwork digitally and you You can take it with you anywhere and, if necessary, prepare a Powerpoint or something similar at school.

Just wait a little and don't complain too much; )

You can also ask your parents about the reasons and then meaningfully invalidate them (can you, for once, apply what you learned at school Schule)

av

Yes, always keep the old laptop, because if something happens with the new device, at least you have something in case you have to do an essay or something similar digitally at school

Ho

Thank you, I didn't need an argument for a laptop, but your answer was still very helpful. LG

A gaming laptop is overkill for school

cu

Okay, maybe with you. With my old man it worked…

Ar

With my penultimate from 2005, more was possible. But the devices just change and that is currently the standard.
