Reset laptop is not because of virus?

Yesterday I accidentally installed a virus when Windows noticed it then I tried to reset the PC have done this about 10 times and it has always worked perfectly except this time every time I put it back (I've already tried 5 times) everything is ok but eventually an error will appear and I will reset to recovery mode and get the usual option Next, … Etc.

Complicated version: You take the hard drive out and plug it into another machine and format it on another system - preferably one that is not a Windows system - like Linux

Simple version:

You leave the hard drive in the computer and put the installation CD in the drive and follow the instructions. There you can also format the hard disk - which is advisable.
