Reset HP laptop factory settings?

I got a HP laptop because it was not needed anymore. This is an HP Elitebook 2540 with i7 CPU.

If you start the laptop, then there are two choices:
Either start Windows 7 normally - which leads to the crash of Windows.
Or the operating system to "reperarch", but that does not work.

However, I still have a Windows 7 64-bit CD with key and on the back of the laptop is also a key again.

What can I do now? When I press ESC on the startup screen I get to the following options:
F1 system information
F2 System Diagnostics
F7 HP SpareKey
F9 Boot Device Options
F12 Network Boot
ENTER - Continue Startup

What can I do best now?

ro

Press F9 and then boot from DVD.

Gr

Press directly after starting F11 again and again fast in a row then you should come into the recovery.

La

I get there by F9. There's now "Notebook Upgrade Bay", "Notebook Hard Drive" and Notebook Ethernet "? And now?

ro

Notebook Upgrade bay is the DVD drive.

Gr

No this is not the recovery partition these are boot options you have mentioned there.

You have to start the notebook and immediately afterwards press F11.

La

But there's nothing…

Gr

Then there are only 2 options

You are too slow 😏

The partition has been deleted.

In the latter case you have to reinstall.

La

I'm banging right on F11 like crazy. Then there's always a funny sound and he starts anyway "normal".
How to reinstall?

La

Problem is yes, I believe that I only have Windows 7 64-bit and this is a 32-bit system or not?

Gr

Well reinstall the Windows key you have on the laptop

La

How does it work?

Gr

CD in from the boats and follow the instructions 😏

But I can already tell you the rest you will not get there if it fails because you need all the drivers you still need to download

La

Drivers can be downloaded into it or not? @nichtsonett said that I should press F9 and then on "Notebook Upgrade Bay" with the CD? But then nothing comes. Starts also normal.

La

If I go into it with the CD in it, then it still starts "normally".

Gr

Then change it in the BIOS to CD First Boot

La

I did, then he started to boot and suddenly the laptop went off. Have turned on again and since then, the only goes on for 3 seconds and directly out again.

I would reinstall Windows cleanly. To do this, download the Media Creation Tool from another computer. So you can create a Windows USB bootstick. Insert the created stick and boot it. Just follow the instructions of the installer. It offers the possibility to completely delete the hard disk. You do not have to enter the product key, it is permanently integrated in the UEFI / BIOS.

When the installation is complete, simply log in with his Microsoft account. Or if you do not have one, create one. Windows will be reactivated. The activation will then be saved in your Microsoft account.

Then you go to the manufacturer side of the laptop. There download and install the drivers.
