Can the iPad Pro replace a laptop?

I think so.

That depends on what you want to do with it, for me an iPad pro would not be a suitable laptop replacement since programs that I use on my laptop would not be available on the iPad. I couldn't connect my cameras to the iPad either.

Re

You can't connect a printer or scanner.

What do you mean by connecting cameras?

Depending on what you expect from the device. With the addition of a keyboard it could be used as a kind of laptop.

the problem with it: it is and remains rather small in terms of format. If you can handle it at work, then you might be able to.

For my part, however, I have to rely on windows, so it just wouldn't be considered for me.

I do astrophotography as a hobby, for this I have corresponding monochrome cameras that I connect to the laptop via USB. The cameras have special drivers to control the cooling and the mount (at the latest then all Apple products will be eliminated) and my recording software (Sharpcap) is also not available for Apple products.

For many users yes, for everyone and me no.

I would be missing software and some device support. To do this, I would have to buy new adapters for Ethernet and the one serial interface.

But for many people it can be the right device for office and internet surfing. Because the screen is very bright and the battery life is also very good.

You could put a Pi in between. Everything is possible, you just have to want it ^^

Finally I can use a 1200 euro tablet for a task that my 500 euro laptop already does perfectly ^. ^
I will start tinkering right away

My path next leads me to a reasonable apochromatic telescope. Costs as much as an iPad, but also has a positive impact on image quality.

As some have already written… It depends on what you want to do with it… Surf the net a little, watch a video, write and receive emails… Ok… Then an iPad is enough…

But - if you want to do more with it, it will be difficult. Personally, I always can't understand how many people want to use it for studying. You can do a lot on the iPad, e.g. With Word… But it is still an extremely slimmed-down version… An extensive work with different page numbers, structure, table of contents, etc. It really becomes an "adventure".

For my day-to-day work I absolutely need a "real" laptop with Windows… Because I use different programs that are neither available on an iPad nor on a MacBook. I also find file management - especially on the iPad - relatively difficult…
