I would like to buy a USB hub for my laptop so that I have more connections, because when I connect the keyboard, mouse and headset I have no USB connection left.

I also saw that there are USB hubs for USB C, for example, would that be smarter?

It depends on what you want to connect.
If you only need a mouse or keyboard or devices that have little thread then you can use a simple USB hub. (without power supply)
However, if you have hard drives and co. Want to connect, then it is best to use a USB 3.0 with external power supply!
