By creating a folder on your laptop, dragging your pictures from your phone to a USB stick or using an adapter on the folder of your laptop.
Connect mobile phone via USB, drag pictures into the folder where you want them. There are also apps that do this automatically. It is enough for me if the pictures are synchronized with google photos, I only copy those to the computer that I need there. Of course it could from the cloud, but the full resolution may not be saved there

Try another cable, alternatively use apps like My phone explorer. Dropbox can do that too (in the same Wi-Fi)
