Laptop microphone input smaller than headphone input;

Quick question: When I plug my headset into my headphone input on my laptop, it is not as stuck as when I plug it into the microphone input.

Is that normal? Because the laptop is quite new. Sorry if it's a stupid question but I hope you can help me anyway.

Yes, with many laptops it doesn't go completely in, that's normal
