PC as a gift for parents at Christmas?

My parents own an old, relatively slow laptop. I have often thought: "Let's build a budget PC for 200-300 euro, which is much better and has more power.) They said they do not need a new and do not want a PC, but rather a laptop! But I think that the PC has much better and in addition a better price-performance ratio and anyone who only a little bit with PC's knows that (I think) . I just want to surprise them, what they never would count!

Now of course the question is, that's why I ask this question:

What's your opinion? Do you like it?
Which parts could I obstruct?

I still have 12 GB DDR4 Ram and a 450W 80+ Bronze certified power supply at home. And a motherboard, where a RAM slot is broken, but the motherboard could eig. I need hald still an SSD or HDD (including Windos 10) and a processor with integrated graphics unit! Which processor could I take there? He should already have at least 4 cores!

Although I can't give you any technical tips, but I think your idea is great!

Your parents will be very happy.

Ra

I do not think so.

Going for a laptop together. After all, your parents have to "work" on it.

Ai

I just want to surprise them, which they would never expect!

Are you sure that you want to surprise your parents or is it more about you and that you pat your pat on the back in appreciation? They do not want a new calculator, they made that clear. Likewise, they do not want a stand PC, but a laptop. When it comes to parents then their wishes should be taken into account and not something to press them on the eye which only you are satisfied and have fun.

Am

Yes, of course you can do it that way. Do you know a good budget PC that only has to deal with simple tasks? (Ebay, internet, e-mail, etc.)

Ra

No, I do not know something like that. I always get advice and have never done badly with it.

Am

No, I really want to surprise my parents and not pat myself on the shoulders. The laptop is already so old that it still has Windows 7 or 8 on it and has only 4GB of DDR3 memory…

Ai

It sure is nice but I would not do it. Alternatively vllt. What else do they like what they like or just a good laptop where then the question is how they get along with Win10. This is not easy for an elderly person who otherwise does not spend much time on the PC.

Am

Yes of course they come with Windows 10, I know that. And they definitely are not old, my dad helped me with PC construction.

Ai

Lucky you. I explain to my 67 year old father for 3 years again and again how to save a picture and bookmark sets ;-D
