Pack yourself and take photos of proper packaging with content, if it still comes to a problem.

Yes, as soon as you set up the packaging as it was sent to you and you send it as a DHL package, it is insured up to 500 euro. DHL says:
Basically, we're liable for your DHL package when shipping Germany against loss or damage up to 500 EUR (only on presentation of the receipt receipt acknowledged). For particularly valuable shipments, we also offer transport insurance up to 2,500 EUR or 25,000 EUR.
