I have had a Lenovo laptop for 2 years (Thinkpad P52)
For a month now the following has happened: * Please see the picture *
(the whole thing moves from top to bottom and flickers)
out of nowhere…
no matter if I watch videos or just in
Surf the web.
Sometimes this only happens once a day. Sometimes 5 times a day. Sometimes twice in 10 min.
I first thought of a damaged graphics card or a damaged display cable. But when I move the screen back and forth nothing happens, which is why I excluded the display cable.
the problem first appeared when I reset the laptop. That's why I have the "hope" that it is not the graphics card, especially since the laptop is not that old and relatively expensive.
After that I reset the laptop a few more times in hopes of fixing the problem, but it didn't work.
The graphics drivers are also up to date.
Could there be another reason for the problem other than a defective graphics card?
Display possibly damaged?
It's probably because of the screen / display. I would have it checked or contact the manufacturer.
I would plug in a live stick with Linux and see if the error occurs there. If so, it is a hardware problem. If not, the problem is probably due to an incorrect driver setting or incompatibility with another program or background activity.
Thank you for the suggestion, that sounds like a good method!
