New SSD is nowhere recognized?

- in Lenovo

Normally, it should appear in Disk Management - but it does not.

Samsung magician did not recognize her either.

I bought a Lenovo Y700 laptop with 256GB of memory. The versions with more memory have a built-in SSD - this had from factory where the 2nd SSD belongs nothing

I have now bought the Caddy, the cable and the SSD, the cable connected but he does not recognize anything. Nowhere.

what can this be? Can this be any software setting that works on the laptop (because the port was never occupied)?

Mu

It may be that the port is disabled in the BIOS / UEFI. Because just look in the device configuration.

Bi

The cable?

A laptop usually has only one slot. There you simply plug in the SSD.

Ei

I do not know what it means I have absolutely no expertise in this area. In any case, such a where you have to "open" the port and then the end of the cable or whatever that means put in and shut again.

Ru

Can it be that with the new SSD the power supply has been forgotten?

If the SSD appears in Disk Management, it may still need to be initialized.

Okay… Funny thing.

If there are cables, but bauchts two cables. Once SATA and once electricity.

Ei

It is a Samsung 860 EVO. I installed them as I was told on YouTube

Bi

Either no cable or two cables. Is it a M.2 SSD?

Ei

Would you know how I can activate the port? I was just in the BIOS but I lack the expertise

Ei

Thanks, I found the mistake. The cable seems to be defective. I have the connector cable from the other Lenovo removed and tested with me and there it went the first time.
