I have a huge problem. My PC hung up beforehand, so I couldn't shut it down normally. It is now said that data carriers are being repaired. This process can take over an hour. It is a Lenovo laptop with Windows 8. I have no idea about computers and I can't start with terms like BIOS etc. The problem is that I have read on the Internet that your data should be backed up urgently and that this is an indication that the hard drive is broken. But how do I do that if I can't start him up? I'm a student and I have very important data on the device. So I do not have a long time (a few weeks to have it checked by a specialist is too long) and I urgently need the data. Can I do something there?
I had about the same problem as you had 2 years ago with a Lenovo laptop and Windows 8. I also had no idea and gave my laptop to my father who gave it to a technician. He said my hard drive was completely broken (I would have * blown it up * 😅). So he built me a new one and played Windows 10 on the laptop. Unfortunately my data was completely lost!
If I were you, I would go to a friend or something (even if that takes a lot of time because you will not get around) who is professionally involved with computers and who should look after it. Maybe you're lucky and it's just a small mistake!
Best wishes and good luck 👍
Now I would wait until it is finished. Since you do not know exactly what happened, I can't say exactly what will be with your data. Could be data loss, everything could still be there. It is also possible that the Windows file system had an error. If the PC doesn't start up properly, then you should connect your hard drive to another system and try to get the most important thing out.
Many thanks for your response. I also hope that something is still possible to get the data.
