My new internet provider is not at the contractually agreed speed, what can I do?

I have set up an internet connection in our new building. When the technician was there, I received 100 Mbits. In the meantime, 250Mbits should arrive at my address.

In my contract and tariff it says that I will ALWAYS have at least 50Mbits and a maximum of 100Mbits. So in my tariff NEVER surf less than 50Mbits via LAN cable.

I now have to find out that the Lan cable on the laptop or PS4 never reaches the promised 100 mbits let alone the 50 Mbits. I download the Alien computer with 10 mbits and on the Ps4 30mbits with a LAN cable and a Cat7 cable in the network socket. I have Wi-Fi just 3mbits and also constantly lost connections

That's Bes… What can I do here against my Internet provider? I'm the idiot who still pays for something. I don't get the contractually agreed internet speed, even though I have a network cabinet with Cat7 cable and network sockets. Does a technician have to get out at their expense?

I'm very grateful for your support in advance!

First of all, because that happens more often. Do you download 10Megabytes per second or do you actually download 10mbit?

Furthermore, many servers and the internet are generally slow, that is pushed to Corona and the overload, I assume that they have contractually secured themselves for such cases. If not just complain / reclaim money and apply special termination right.

Ho

Is that why you called your provider and let them measure it? What did they say? If no, call them.

Do you have a router where you can check the speed arriving there? If so, what's in it?

Ce

For this, there's the service description for securing.

Qu

How do you measure speed? Via speed test or game download via steam?

br

A What can the provider do for your internal network?

B What can the provider do that the download servers no longer offer you?

C Have you ever taken a measurement? E.g. Via http://www.wieistmeineip.de

D Sure you don't confuse byte with bit?

Pr

At Steam we have 10mbits download. With the Speedtest LAN cable a few days ago I had 100mb per second, which was what was contractually agreed. But I don't have that now. How much would have to test again? Must look for the Lan cable. I have Magenta L from Telekom

Fr

Yes No. There's certainly somewhere else that in the case of force majeure this - that which are just not tangible. You always have to read the whole paper, not just the part that suits you.

For bad Wi-Fi and connection breaks, your provider can't do anything, unless you have a loan device as a router and this is defective. This can also come from a bad position of the router and / or many sources of interference in the area.

What does the speed test say? Since your devices already have different speeds over LAN, this is more due to the download server that offers the data. Steam e.g. Is known that there are often slow downloads. If the PS servers are busy, there may also be drops. The first thing that matters is the speed that can actually be achieved with unloaded servers. Because the provider can't do anything for the data source, only if the line is overall too bad, action may be required. And then there's Mbit / s and MB / s…

At

Steam usually shows MB / s… 10MB / s would be 80Mbit / s and therefore comes close…

Pr

Okay I will now pull out the Lan cable and give you the current status. I'll give you the numbers that come out right here

br

If you have 10MB with Steam you are really good…

Pr

Oh shh… That means that everything is going right here. If I download with 10MB, would that be 80Mbits? Then does that get there? Hmm but what did the Ps4 show me there? MB or Mbits? So MB is not Mbit? How much are 1MB in Mbit? 10 Mb in Mbit and 100MB in Mbit?

At

Conversion is 1MB / s = 8Mbit / s… So * 8 if you convert MB to Mbit… Classic in the train of thought. 100Mbit / s then 12.5MB / s

I don't know PS4. But 30MB would be 240Mbit… That would be a lot for your connection ^^ It may well be that the Mbit shows and the game has just been loaded by many or that Sony was generally busy on the servers. Your internet speed is not always low.
