Well that's individual, more performance is always better (runs more stable, does not struggle), battery life and low weight create flexibility. But the bottom line is that you can do simple office work with practically every 200 euro laptop.

I used an iPad Pro (12.9 1st Gen) for this purpose in my studies and now I'm still very satisfied.

So I always make sure that the notebook has a matt display and not a glossy one.

Then the battery life is of course important if you want to use it a lot on the go.

Of course, the processor should not be too slow either, but there are differences here too. Older CPUs are slower than the latest ones at the same Hertz number. Such as. Der8auer showed in one of his videos that an FX8350 at 7.5 GHz on a core in Cinebench has fewer points than a current Ryzen processor.

An SSD is also a must have.

By the way, if you only have to do research or work, a notebook with Linux OS is also worthwhile. Linux is much faster and eats fewer resources than Windows.

At least 4 GB RAM

The rest doesn't really matter for surfing. In my opinion, a dual core from 2010 would be enough. I would not spend more than 450 euro for this application.

I still have an Athlon X2 265 and I get along just fine, enough for 1080 @ 30 fps videos and a little gaming.

SSD must be. And I think an AMD processor would be a little better for something like that, because Intel CPUs are a little more for gaming.
