Should I reset my computer?

I have already asked here what I can do that my Fn keys are properly filled again. Would it help to reset the PC and not delete personal data? And if I reset then but keep personal data, then all folders on C + D deleted except users / users and subfolders?

I have a Medion Akoya E6234 with formerly Windows 8.1 now 10.

To the first question:

Hi,

I got a used laptop from a relative in which the Fn keys 10, 11, 12 are labeled Noiselessly Lighter (blue symbol on keys), but they do not work. Other keys do not work for louder quieter either. It was once a program installed on the PC, with which the PC should be accelerated. I uninstalled it but it does not work. What can I do? As far as I know, I can't do anything with Sharp Key.

I have already installed a new driver but without success.

I would like to avoid a new start

Hope you can help me

Can it be that FN key assignment in the BIOS have been converted?
Say you use the Laut and Leister buttons, the FN button does not have to press?

gl

No AHnung, but I can't make louder / quieter without pressing the Fn keys on the keyboard. Are with me the keys F11+ 12

Su

Maybe the advanced FN operation is simply disabled - but should be able to be set in the BIOS to my knowledge!

gl

And how do I do that?

Je

With C and D you probably mean your hard drives. I can't tell you if it will be deleted, but I'm sure that your programs, etc. Stay on top. In Windows 10, there would be a function called "refreshing the PC" or something similar, because I'm sure that everything remains.

However, I would say that will bring little and rather recommend you to reset it completely. This usually fixes more problems.

Su

First try to activate the manual key combination, possibly the FN buttons have been disabled.

Try the following key combinations one after the other to test if the keys reactivate.

Ctrl + Shift + Num.

Fn + Num.
Num.

Fn + F11.
Num + F11.

Unfortunately without success

Take a look at this link:

The FN keys operate all the time only, have been re-allocated by the program e.g. Can I turn the screen off and on again with Fn + F7?

Su

Then either the layout has changed or you really have a silly program on it!

gl

And then brings it to reset?

Ca

So. Keyboard itself. Everything OK. You need a driver of your PC for special keys.

Googling for your model. Drives keyboard.

I can't help anymore.

Maybe:-) if you have no important data on it anyway, you can try that in any case
