Laptop compulsory component of a mechanical engineering study?

Besides, I have a powerful desktop PC at home, even buying a Windows capable device, that would seem a bit stupid to me. In addition, I have had bad experiences with Windows laptops. A MacBook I could imagine, but if I really need a laptop for the programs, then a MacBook is either not compatible or just too weak. (Which I've heard)

But if I do not really need a laptop, then I would like to get an ipad, I'm just tired of flying around tons of paper, until today I still find latin worksheets and I'm not a messy person with God knows… Well good a bit.

So my PC would be enough at home and could I buy a tray with a clear conscience?

I have attended all my lectures without laptop / tablet in the lectures (mechatronics + electrical engineering) … Practically it is all in all that one can scribble in the PDFs with a pencil. Duty for successful existence definitely not.

Of course, it's clear that a tablet is just a gimmick. My only fear was that a laptop is needed and I do not have one or I have one and then do not need it. I already had a Samsung tablet 3 years ago, my sister also got one for her birthday, just a generation new.
