Ipad and laptop allowed as carry-on?

Can I take an ipad and a laptop with me as hand luggage? Flying tomorrow and my mother said that you can take only one of the two, so laptop or ipad. Is that correct? Is there a guideline for how many electronic devices you can take with you? The flights would be tomorrow, to Dubai and then to Colombo (Sri Lanka). On the internet and to the websites of the airlines, I have found nothing specific to it

Re

You are allowed to take both. There's no rule. But why do you want to lug both, one is enough. Internet in Colombo was not that great when I was there 5 years ago.

Re

If the carry-on baggage is stolen, only one of the things is gone. I recommend you the Ipad. You do not use the laptop there, believe me.

Th

Both in hand luggage, is even so wanted!

The baggage is not handled very well, because it could ever happen that the laptop does not survive if it is badly packed.

An

Laptops, iPad and Co. Always belong in the hand luggage. The airlines do not want to pay for (alleged) damage, which may have been caused by the case loading.

But also my question: who takes a laptop (or even a computer) on vacation? Getting to know country and people by analogy is much more exciting - and more instructive.

An eReader for a few books, if it rains like a bucket, is enough.

fu

Ipad I think is unnecessary, because you can just as well take the smartphone. A gaming laptop already has something to play a few games when it rains.

I'm there for the whole summer holidays, so about 2 months. And I would use the laptop well for cutting videos, because I like to shoot so short nature films or documentaries.
