Got a LAN cable in my room away from the router.
I can only connect my laptop but would like to connect my PlayStation, pc, hue hub and so on. What do I need for that?
For this you need a switch.
I assume that by distributor you mean the things that don't need electricity. That works only up to two devices and only if you use the same distributor on the other side. That means you also need two ports on the router. In addition, you can then only transfer 100 Mbit / s over the cable.
quite apart from that, laptop, hue bridge and playstation are already more than 2 devices.
Take a small gigabit switch such as https://www.amazon.de/..._sb_noss_2 or a similar one.
Then one more cable per device.
Thanks
Oh yes and could I connect all of this to a repeater instead of the router that has 1 port
If you mean the switch by everything, then yes, but then i would seriously consider buying a repeater with more than one lan connection. So four.
this would have the advantage that you no longer need an extra switch - less cable clutter, fewer power supplies, less permanent power consumption
