Microphone sounds dull?

I just got a new PC. After I changed all my devices, I realized that my microphone sounds a lot different than my LapTop did. So I got VoiceMeteer, which also allowed me to hear myself. That's where I sounded good, but in my recording program and Discord, Skype, etc. Not even though I chose the right microphone. What could be the cause'?
