In a nutshell: I would like to connect my Samsung printer to the router via LAN cable in order to print from the laptop, but without a cable via WLAN. So connect the printer to the network, but that somehow doesn't work because I don't know where to find the IP address of the printer. Unfortunately I don't have the instruction manual.
Print out the test page (possible directly on the printer menu / buttons), everything is on it.
OR: Call up the configuration page of your router. And look in the LAN / Network area under "Connected devices", there's always a local IP address, e.g. 192.168.178.25 or 192.168.1.33 … Look.
WHEN laptop is connected:
Then select "Add a new printer…" in Windows and search for a printer in the network. Windows will find the printer if it is properly set up as a network printer.
PS:
Tip 1: If a network printer is set up, you should reserve the printer's IP address in the router (always give this device the same IP address) so that it still has the same IP after 2 weeks of downtime / "non-use", otherwise Windows reports "Printer is offline", although it only got a different IP from router DHCP.
Tip 2: When you have found out the local IP address of the printer, enter this IP address (e.g. 192.168.178.25) times as the web address in the browser, the configuration page of the printer will appear, where you can then set all the printer's features and change with caution.
