Briefly about the facts
i have a local folder share from a linux mint laptop. For example, if I want to copy an .iso file via the release from a Win10 computer to the Linux laptop, I have a transfer of 100mbit but after 2-3 seconds the transfer slowly drops to 20 mbit and does not go up. The file is 4.4Gb in size
router TELEKOM Smart 3
both devices are connected to the router with Cat5e lan cable
both devices have a 1Gbit network card
I would like to buy a NAS soon and wanted to see if 1 Gbit works properly.
So why is it not constantly transmitting with 100mbit at 1Gbit. Do I have to use better cables or do I need a switch to keep the signal better?
How old is the laptop? It may also be due to the reading speed of the origin and the writing speed of the destination.
Is an old laptop from Medion Akoya with i3 2330m. HDD. My Win10 computer has an Ssd
That sounds a lot like a bottleneck in the original drive.
Seems to be really the HDD. I copied the same file from the Windows partition to the Linux partition. 15-20 mb.
The problem shouldn't be with WD RED HDDs.
Gladly
